In June 2001, Shilong was approved by Development Planning Commission of Guangdong Province to build an information industry park. The basic layout of the park:

1. attracting the investment from electronic & information manufacturing enterprises and from software enterprises
2. attracting R&D Department of electronic & information manufacturing industry to settle down in Shilong, so as to provide impetus of research and development for manufacturing enterprises
3. attracting the investment from related trades of electronic industry
4. attracting industry of precision processing and manufacturing

       The planned total area of the park will be 3000 Mu. In the northern part of the park, the floor space of the already constructed workshop has surpassed 500,000 square kilometers, occupying 2000 Mu. Up to now, over 60 enterprises have entered the northern part, and started their projects of production, including YASHICA Cameras of Kyocera Corporation, Kyocera MITA digital duplicators, laser printers, cutting tools, and linkers, Minolta digital duplicators and laser printers, TOPCON optical instruments. In the southern part of the park, 1000 Mu of area has been prepared (three supplies and one leveling: supply water, electricity, and road, and leveled ground), and can be put to use. Now Japanese Lifugao Company manufacturing precision plastics and car fittings, ADVANEX company making precision hardware parts, the First Chemosynthesis Company producing precision plastic parts, Xiao Quan Lantern decorating Company and Taiwan Preview Corporation, have entered the southern part of the park.
